Many industries rely on chemicals to get the job done. In agriculture, pesticides are used to protect plants against pests including herbicides to kill weeds, fungicides to prevent diseases, and insecticides to eliminate unwanted bugs. Once used, those containers need to be properly rinsed to be EPA compliant before being disposed of. The same goes for hazardous materials in medical laboratories, cleaning materials used in the food industry, and the numerous commercial operations that depend on chemicals each and every day.

EPA standards require all residual chemicals to be washed away before disposing or recycling a container to minimize the risk of hazard to the public or environment. Also, many landfills or other disposal locations will not accept empty chemical containers that have not been thoroughly rinsed.
